VQ Communications
In 2023 I joined VQ Communications as a Software Engineer in the UI and Integrations team and I've learnt so much in my time here. I have been using tech like NextJS, tRPC, Drizzle, NestJS and Microsoft Azure to deliver solutions that go beyond the on-prem product that existed before I joined. I've also become closely acquainted with Microsoft's declarative Infrastructure as code language, Bicep.
The work here has been both challenging and immensely rewarding. I have thoroughly enjoyed transitioning from a team at Raytheon that strictly adhered to SCRUM, to the more flexible approach at VQ. This flexibility has allowed me to make key architectural design decisions, implement them, and continuously iterate based on customer feedback and data from our own analysis and testing.
Raytheon
In 2021, I joined Raytheon under the intelligence and space division as a Junior Software Engineer. I was lucky enough to become part of a team that was responsible for many applications that served some very high profile clients.
The team followed the SCRUM methodology and I thrived in this workflow. I was able to work on many different complex projects and I took a lead role in load testing one particular product. As a result of the load testing we managed to find optimisations in the system that had previously been overlooked.
Derby Yamaha Music School
I worked as a freelance software engineer for Derby Yamaha Music School for a number of years. The project started as a simple website, but, although my knowledge at the time was limited, quickly grew into a full pupil management system that was built on top of Google Sheets.
I leveraged the power of app scripts in Google Sheets to use Javascript to create a system that allowed the admins to manage all of the pupils, teachers and payments for the school. The system was a huge success and is still in use today.

As a freelancer I worked for The Distractions Band to create an application that enabled the band manager to manage over 60 musicians, plus sound engineers and clients. With hundreds of events all over the world every year, the band manager wanted a bespoke system to make admin work a breeze whilst also providing clients with a way to manage their events.
