Play The Drums was a business I started after I had been teaching drums for a while. I was teaching drums in multiple schools and needed a streamlined way of managing pupils, so I built a website. This was one of the first websites I built and is no longer active, but I'm extremely proud of it so I thought it was still worth a mention! The website worked really well, pupils could sign up easily and their parents could submit all of the forms that used to be done on paper.I quickly realised the power of what I had created and decided to integrate a payment system so that I no longer had to take cash directly from pupils. Stripe was the platform I chose to integrate with and this was another great success. I found the integration really straightforward and this allowed me to offer extra resources to pupils outside of their lessons to enhance their learning. When Covid-19 hit and schools were closed due to lockdown in the UK, I found myself in a fortunate position as I already had an online connection with my pupils and their parents. I was able to create video lessons and upload them to student's accounts on my website in order for them to continue their drum lessons. The video lessons were a great success and when the schools re-opened I was able to diversify my income stream and launch a subscription service that offered video lessons for students that couldn't get enough of their regular lessons! Here's one of the video lessons I created for my students:
